Hi My name is Rosmery. I graduated from the University of Florida where I developed a passion for telling news through interactive pages and visualizations. In addition to traditional reporting, my interests and skills include data analysis, data visualization and web development.

A Miami Herald analysis looking at the racial disparity in NFL head coach hiring amid the Brian Flores lawsuit against the league.

Compiled data on coach hires since 2020 through news articles and NFL reports. Conducted analysis and created data visuals.

Live results page for California's 2021 gubernatorial recall election.

Contributed to the styling of the page and gathered headshots of the candidates, cleaning them for display.

A page highlighting the largest and most destructive fires in California history.

Used government data and wildfire reporting to write about historically impactful wildfires in California and created charts in Datawrapper as accompanying visuals.

The Independent Florida Alligator

A regularly updated COVID dashboard tracking the cases and deaths in the University of Florida, Alachua County and Florida.

Compiled historical case numbers using data from The COVID Tracking Project and New York Times. Manually tracked cases throughout summer and fall semesters of 2020. Created a web scraper to get daily numbers from the university dashboard.

The Independent Florida Alligator

A regularly updated map of the University of Florida's campus with counts of confirmed dorm cases and their location.

Collaborated with the health reporter to track cases announced to students in dorms, but not publicly. Developed the map and manually updated it as more cases were confirmed in dorms.

A centralized "news hub" for 2020 summer protest coverage in Gainesville, FL

Developed and designed the page. Used JavaScript and ScrollMagic for interactive elements including scroll reveal and SVG drawing animations.

Developed and designed the page, scroll elements were done using ScrollMagic. Took lead on graphics editing.

Developed and designed the page. Targeted elements using a SVG layer overlayed onto graphics to display informational tooltips about the notable figures depicted.

Advanced Web Apps (UF Course)

Database application to showcase how expungement laws and the records eligible for expungement vary by state

Developed the page using Flask and designed the layout. Worked with a journalist to compile a database of state information and contributed to fact-checking.
